Best Time to visit

The best time to visit Arunachal Pradesh is during the months of October to April, as the weather is generally pleasant during this period.

Autumn (October-November)

This is considered the best time to visit Arunachal Pradesh. The weather is cool and pleasant, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures. The landscapes are lush and green after the monsoon season, making it an ideal time for trekking and outdoor activities.

Winter (December-February)

While winters are cold, especially in higher altitudes, it is still a good time to visit, particularly for those who enjoy the chilly weather. Days are generally clear, providing excellent visibility for sightseeing, and it's an ideal time to explore cultural festivals.

Spring (March-April)

This period marks the beginning of the tourist season, with temperatures gradually rising. The weather is still pleasant, and the landscapes are vibrant with blooming flowers. It's a good time for outdoor activities and cultural experiences.

Keep in mind that Arunachal Pradesh is prone to heavy rainfall during the monsoon season (June- September), which can lead to landslides and difficult travel conditions. Itinerary

Day 1: Departure from Dibrugarh to Along/Aalo

Commencing our week-long exploration of Mechuka from the vibrant city of Dibrugarh in Assam, the nearest airport and railhead to this hidden gem. Upon your morning arrival, our North East Explorer’s representative will be there to welcome you. Ensure your Arunachal Pradesh Inner Line Permit (ILP), which we've provided in advance, is readily available, as we embark on a journey toward the Assam-Arunachal border, gradually leaving the bustling city of Dibrugarh behind. The drive from Dibrugarh to Along is a picturesque route, offering multiple opportunities for photo stops. Feel free to request your driver-guide to pause, allowing you to soak in the crisp mountain air of Arunachal Pradesh. By early evening, you'll check into a charming homestay in Along, a destination in itself. After a swift check-in, take a stroll to acquaint yourself with the surroundings, anticipating an exciting day ahead.

Day 2: Along/Alo to Mechuka

If the previous day hinted at the remoteness of North East India, today promises an even deeper immersion into the heart of Mechuka, an offbeat jewel. Shortly after leaving Along, expect to lose phone connectivity, immersing yourself in the dense surroundings with fewer fellow travelers. Traditional stilted homes line the route, showcasing a distinct architecture unique to this part of Arunachal Pradesh. As you traverse the mostly uneven roads, the Siyom River becomes a constant companion, and a visit to the striking Siko-Dido waterfall adds to the day's allure. By evening, settle into a simple homestay in Mechuka, warming up by the bukhari (traditional heater).

Day 3: Exploring Mechuka

After a restful night and breakfast by the homestay's kitchen fire, it's time to delve into Mechuka's wonders. Begin with a visit to the New Gompa, appreciating the simplicity of its surroundings, followed by a leisurely hike to Mechuka-la. The panoramic views at the summit, overlooking Mechuka town, promise an unforgettable experience. Explore the Dorjelling village, interact with locals, and venture to Tsokorphu village before returning to your homestay. Conclude the day by spending time at the Yargapchu River, surrounded by Mechuka's captivating beauty.

Day 4: Mechuka Sightseeing

Having explored Mechuka's attractions, today focuses on the best places in its vicinity. Start the day with a visit to the 400-year-old Old Gompa, steeped in history. Follow this with a drive to Lhalung village to witness the Old Tibet road, and then proceed to the revered Mechuka Gurudwara. The afternoon allows for local lunch and market exploration, with the evening free for leisurely strolls.

Day 5: Mechuka to Alo/Along

As the Mechuka adventure spans three nights, the return journey begins in the morning. Departing early offers the opportunity to explore tribal villages around Aalo, providing a genuine feel for the locale and fostering interactions with the residents. By evening, check into your homestay, enjoying the comfort of decent mobile phone connectivity.

Day 6: Alo/Along to Dibrugarh

Embarking on the final leg of our journey after breakfast, we retrace the path to the plains of Assam. With hearts filled with countless memories, our return journey marks the end of a wonderful trip. Although the trip concludes, the relationships forged with the remarkable people encountered over the past few days have only just begun. Consider seamlessly extending this Mechuka adventure with a visit to Kaziranga, Majuli, or even Tawang, should you have additional days to spare.

Inclusions

1. Accommodation on a double sharing basis (Adults) or Triple sharing (2 Adults one kid)
2. Transport from (and to) railway station/ airport to respective hotels and homestays for all days during the trip, including all sightseeing ( if not mentioned otherwise in the exclusion list)
3. Food as per MAP package (Breakfast, Lunch/ Diner, Evening Snacks)

Exclusions

1. Transport cost, where availing local/ govt vehicles are mandatory ( e.g. Jungle safari, visiting to border locations, availing horses or mules for specific sightseeing spots etc.) in these cases the tourist has to pay on actuals as necessary
2. Extra / special food (beverages) ordered during or outside any meal under MAP package
3. Entry fees & parking fees to any sightseeing spot
4. During unforeseen natural events ( e.g. landslides, roadblocks due to snowfall, floods, cancellation of flight / railways etc.) the guest might have to pay extra amount to avail immediate and necessary services as applicable.
