Har Ki Doon is one of the most popular treks in Uttarakhand. With gradual descends and easy ascends, Har Ki Doon Trek in the Garhwal Himalayas is an ideal pick for the beginners. Trek to Har Ki Doon, a valley situated at the base of Fateh Parvat, has mesmerizing views of azure blue sky and a dense forest of chestnut, deodar, and sycamore.Here we will walk along sparkling, playful, flowering streams and waterfalls and even climb a gentle gradient. With each step, the landscape becomes more spectacular. The hills give way to mountains, and the mountains to giants until the valley opens into a cupped palm of Har Ki Doon.
Due to its good road connection via the Borasu Pass, Har Ki Doon Valley is also considered as the base point of many Himalayan peaks. The trekking trail offers the sight of beautiful Bandarpunch, Kalanag, and Swargarohini peaks.The extravagant nine-day long Har-ki- Doon trek starts from Sankri, a tiny village in the Garhwal Himalayan Range.
The trek further continues to Taluka and the side of Rupin River and Supin River, from where the views of the Indian Himalayas are stunning. From Taluka, the trekking trail moves to Osla and one can enjoy the breathtaking view of dense forest dotted with chestnut and walnut trees. From Osla, a steady ascend leads to Har ki Doon. On visiting Har Ki Doon Valley, one can explore Morinda Lake, Jaundhar Glacier, and Borasu Pass.

Quick itinerary: 7 days 6 nights
Drive from Dehradun to Sankri, then drive from Sankri to Taluka where we will do trek to Ganghad. Then we have to do trek from Osla to Kolkatidher (~11km), then from Kolkatidher to Har ki Doon. Then descend from Har ki Doon towards Osla. From Osla will come to Sankri . Then from Sankri finally back to Dehradun
Detailed itinerary:
Day 01:Arrival Day –Drive from Dehradun to Sankri( ~197km)
We will meet at Dehradun early in the morning. From here we’ll start the magnificent full day drive to the base camp at Sankri, perched at an altitude of 1,950 m.
● The drive will take about 11 hours to complete, with adequate pauses for meals along the way.
● Enjoy the breathtaking vistas of the Dhauladhars and the sloping greens along the way. The path runs parallel to the river Tons.
● We will reach Sankri late in the evening, after which we can check-in at the homestay/guest house for the night.
Day 02:Trek Day –Drive from Sankri to Taluka (~12km) | Trek ToGanghad (~ 9km)
● We will start early in the morning, will a fulfilling breakfast, after which we will start the drive from Sankri to Taluka. It is approximately a 12 km long drive and we will reach Taluka late in the afternoon.
● After a short rest, we will start the trek to Ganghad, which is located at a height of 2560 m. The idea is to reach just in time to enjoy the splendid sight of a Himalayan sunset. Along the way, we will pass through natural phenomena, such as the coniferous forests we will be trekking through, the river Tons, the banks of which we will be descending to and even the multiple high-altitude bridges that we will be crossing!
● Upon reaching Osla, drop your bags at the tent, and come out to enjoy the wonderful sunset and some snacks!
● Later, after resting for a while, enjoy dinner around a campfire in the mountains, before heading to your tents for the night.
Day 03: Trek Day – Trek from Osla to Kakkatidhar (~11km)
● After having early breakfast, today we will be heading to the main campsite of the trek in the valley of Har Ki Doon. It's a beautiful walk to Simatra from Osla village and a mesmerizing view all over. The trek will ascend to the height of 3200m from Osla.
● By the evening we will reach our camps in Har Ki dun surrounded by the Swargrohini Peaks.
● After the long walk, dinners will be served at the campsite, and trekkers can rest for the day in their camp and get ready for the next day.
Day 04: Trek Day –Kalkatidhar to Har ki Dhoon (~ 7km)
● This will be the day we all have waited for so long, sunrise at Har Ki Dun valley. After breakfast, we will embark on our way to Jaundhar Glacier which is the summit of the Har Ki Doon valley trek.
● The fourth day of the trek is destined to complete the Har ki doon experiencing the mesmerizing view of Har ki Doon meadows and a pretine view of the white Himalayas.
● We will start doing trek down after visiting the Jaundhar Glacier and reach our campsite by end of the day.
Day 05: Trek Day – Trek from Har ki Dhoon to Osla( ~11km)
● One must enjoy the sun rising from behind Swargarohini, as the sky changes colors. After a fulfilling breakfast, we start the descent to Osla. The tiny village has few houses and an ancient temple, said to be around 1000 years old.
● After reaching, drop your luggage at the tent, and head out to explore the tiny hamlet.
● After filling yourself to the brim with a mouth-watering dinner, you can retire to your tent for the night.
Day 06:Trek Day – Trek from Osla To Sankri ( ~26 km)
● Lets re-energize ourselves from this sunrise and the breakfast, as the day is slightly strenuous.
● The trek to Sankri is a long one, that gets steep in parts and takes about 7 hours to complete. Along the way, enjoy the sight of rare alpine flora and fauna like wild orchids and flocks of migratory birds soaring in the sky.
● After reaching Sankri, check-in at your guesthouse/homestay and refresh yourself. You can head out to visit the few shops in the village if you wish.
Day 07:Drive back from Sankri to Dehradun
● Start early and enjoy your final sunrise in the mountains. After freshening up, and grabbing some breakfast, check-out by around 8 AM.The drive will take ~ 11 hours to complete with breaks for meals, it is best to start as early as possible. We will reach Dehradun around 7 PM depending upon traffic and weather conditions, as your adventure ends here.
