Lamahatta is a small village located 23km away from the main town Darjeeling. The place has been developed as an eco-tourism site in the year 2012.This place is surrounded by pine forest and beautiful view of Mt. Kanchenjunga. The word “Lamahatta” is derived from the words “Lama” meaning a Buddhist monk and “hatta” meaning a hut that means a monks hermitage. The main inhabitants are mostly tribal Buddhist people like Sherpas, Yalmos, Tamangs, Bhutias and Dukpas. They all have come together to join hands to create an eco tourism place. Lamahatta is a clam and beautiful place at an altitude of 5700 ft. where pine trees stand majestically with the Mt. Kanchenjunga in the fore font .

Trekking in Lamahatta: There is a short trail that leads to a small lake on a hill top. The villagers consider this to be a sacred lake. You can also do jungle trekking.There is another trail of around 8kms from Lamahatta to Takdah that goes through a maze of pine and dhupi trees. Another trek route Gari Danda - an old fort on top of a hill which is about 3kms away.
Tea Estates: Visit Some of the well known tea estates nearby like Rongli Rangliot Tea Estate, Takdah Tea Estate etc.
View Points: Peshoke View Point is about 8kms away where you can see the confluences of river Teesta and rangeet , a place knwon as Triveni. You can also Rafting and angling in river Teesta.
